Ever since the Malayalam Mohanlal—Meena starrer Drishyam did
wondersat the box office, besides winning critical acclaim, the film has been
in the news, particularly since there has been a huge demand for its remake
rights. Finally suresh balaji had grabbed its tamil, telugu and hindi remake
rights. Many stars, including Chiyaan Vikram, showed a keen interest in doing
Tamil and Telugu versions. Later, veteran actress Sripriya, who re-entered as a
director with Malini 22 Palayamkottai, confirmed that she would be doing the
Telugu version with T’town actor, Venkatesh reprising Mohanlal’s role.
Now, the latest speculation is that ulaganayagan Kamal
Haasan will be seen in the Tamil and Hindi remakes of Drishyam, essaying
Lalettan’s role, Georgekutty. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the movie is a
thriller and kamal Haasan will be seen playing the father of two teenage
daughters. Apparently, Kamal’s adaptability to any kind of role is common knowledge. However, when DC
contacted suresh balaji, he said that nothing had been finalised yet as far as
Tamil and Bollywood versions were concerned. “Kamal has watched the film and
has liked it. We are talking to him. Nothing has been firmed up yet. And we
approached him only for the Tamil remake. Hindi is altogether a different
market and we plan to rope in a versatile Bollywood actor to play the lead. In
a few day’s time, we will have a clear picture.” The probable names from B’town
are Irrfan khan, Nana Patekar and Ajay Devgn.
