R . Rahman, who has won the Academy Award twice, was awarded an honorary
doctor-ate by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, on Friday in Glasgow. The
Mozart of Madras was there along with students from his K. M. College of Music
and Technology as part of the Celtic Connection Festival. The RCS is engaged in
providing world-class training in music, dance, drama, screen and production
arts. It A.R.R was awarded an honourary doctorate by the Royal Conservatoire of
Scotland. has around 900 students from 55 countries, learning from the fmest
teachers in an unrivalled campus ambience. Earlier, Rahman wrote on his
microblog, "Just reached Glasgow for the Celtic Connection festi-val,
coming from LA via London! My first day's impression — seems like the Scots are
among the kindest people on earth." After receiving the hon-ourary
doctorate he said, "Humbled by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's
Honoris Causa Doctor of Music degree."
